Rum Balls is a classic sweet made during Christmas. With all the leftover cake that you may end up with, this is an easy dish to make and is a sure shot winner too. Last year, I had shared with you the recipe of a classic rum ball, but since that uses alcohol, I thought of making a version without the alcohol which the kids can enjoy as well. It sure isn’t easy for them to lay their hands off these chocolate coated balls, so it is always a good idea to make a batch without alcohol that they can enjoy as well!
You can use any cake you want for these rum balls – fruit cakes, tea cake, plum cakes – anything will do. I like to flavour them with cocoa powder to give them a chocolate taste. You can also add some coffee powder to make a mocha flavoured variant too. You can always involve the little ones in the family to shape these rum balls. Keeps them busy and gets your work done too!
